Western Lake Erie Chapter
The Western Lake Erie Chapter through a Workforce Development Committee is working to “Bridge the gap between Western Lake Erie NTMA chapter membership, Industry, and education.”
Objectives consist of:
Provide a conduit between our membership and those in the local area high school Career and Technology programs (CTE) and similar.
Students
Providing opportunities to students from these programs to work with member companies:
- As interns
- To job shadow
- To mock interview
- To potentially become sponsored and attend our apprenticeship school while working towards a Journeyman certificate at the employer earning on the job training.
Schools
Provide support to the High School CTE programs and similar:
- Have the NTMA membership represented at School Board of advisor meetings.
- Provide plant tours to engage students and expose them to the potential careers in our trade beyond a CTE program.
- Provide in-class presentations about the industry and the trades.
- Provide Shop teachers with access to resources for additional learning or general support from the membership.
Networking
Host an annual networking event between membership and the education partners
- The platform will allow education partners to share best practices from other programs.
- Whiteboard ideas and how we can bridge the gap between membership and the school programs.
- Network members, industry, and education to gain insight from what is needed in the workforce.
- Establish Education partnerships with all the local CTE Programs and the local membership.
Manufacturing Day
To engage membership and our education partners to take part in Manufacturing day in October.
